Metaorganizing Collaborative Innovation for Action on Grand Challenges

Grand Challenges are complex issues that require collaborative innovation among heterogeneous actors who draw upon contradictory institutional logics. While existing literature shows how social enterprises and individual organizations reconcile tensions between economic environmental logics, scholars know less about when a broad set of adopt practices priorities balance values. This article explores three agricultural cooperatives act as metaorganizations facilitate sustainable transitions to address grand challenges regarding land use. We find the stimulate awareness local experimentation, orchestrate solutions by enrolling engaging actors, coordinate diffusion novel across field. add new insights into producer cooperatives' role in facilitating creation, validation, business sustainability.
